Silicone oil 704
overview
Silicone 704 is an oil based on tetramethyltetraphenyltrisiloxane for generating high vacuums in the range of 10-7 to 10-8 mbar. These oils exhibit extreme chemical, thermal, oxidative, hydrolytic and radiation resistance. It also has extremely low backflow characteristics.
applications
Silicone 704 is intended for use in particularly tough, demanding applications including thin film vapor deposition by sputtering or evaporation, electron beam work and high vacuum furnaces, melting, degassing and sintering, refractory metals and thick film coating.
It is also suitable for all aspects of vacuum coating such as optical processes and automotive components. Its UHV characteristics are particularly useful in thin films, surface engineering, and thermonuclear and plasma physics applications.
